FAQ
Questions people ask
Is therapy only online?
Yes. Every session is held by secure, HIPAA-compliant video. You'll need a private space and a phone, tablet or computer with a reliable connection.
Which states do you see clients in?
Stephanie is licensed in New York, Florida, Texas, Ohio, Missouri and Louisiana. Olivia sees clients in New York. You need to be physically in a state where your therapist is licensed during each session, so if you're traveling, tell your therapist ahead of time.
Do you take my insurance?
We're in network with Aetna, Cigna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, Oxford, Oscar, Carelon and several Medicare Advantage plans. Coverage varies by state and clinician. See Insurance & Fees, or ask during your consultation and we'll check for you.
How much does therapy cost without insurance?
Individual self-pay sessions are $95 with Olivia Matthes Theriault (New York) and $150 with Stephanie Fierro. Olivia also offers a sliding scale for clients who qualify. You're entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of your costs.
How long are sessions, and how often?
Sessions are typically 55 minutes, and we can adjust that to what works for you. Most people start weekly or every other week, and adjust as things improve.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is mostly listening. Your therapist will ask about what's bringing you in, your history and what you'd like to be different. You'll leave with a sense of how you'll work together.
What if my therapist isn't the right fit?
Fit matters a lot. Tell us, and we'll help you switch to another clinician in the practice or refer you elsewhere. No hard feelings.
Do you prescribe medication?
No. Our clinicians are counselors, not prescribers. If medication might help, we can coordinate with your doctor or psychiatrist.
What's your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Sessions cancelled with less notice, or missed, are charged a $75 fee.
What if I'm in crisis?
We're not a crisis service. If you're in immediate danger, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline any time.
